Lorraine let out a harsh, barking laugh that made my skin crawl. “You arrogant little nobody! You think you won? Jackson is my son! Mia is my blood! You were just an incubator for my family! I built this life, and I will take what belongs to me!”
“You locked a three-year-old child in a dark room and left her to die of heat exhaustion,” I said clearly into the microphone.
“She wouldn't stop crying!” Lorraine screamed, spitting with rage. “She ruined the schedule! She wanted that filthy, disgusting doll! I gave her everything! I sacrificed my whole life for Jackson, and then you came along and made him question me! You turned my son against me!”

“You stole our life savings. You planned to smuggle Mia into Mexico and sell her identity,” I pressed.
“I was giving her a better mother!” Lorraine shrieked, lunging forward with her hands clawed like talons. “I am her real mother! Jackson knows it! He will always choose me over you! He will sign whatever I tell him to sign, and you will die alone with nothing!”
