Chapter 9 - The Raid at Dawn

The morning sun had barely broken over the Manhattan skyline when Alex’s phone rang furiously.
Alex woke in the master suite, wrapped in silk sheets and the lingering warmth of Dante’s embrace. Dante was already awake, standing by the window in dark trousers, buttoning his cuff. He tossed the phone to her.
It was her assistant from Sabbes, her voice bordering on hysterical.
"Alex! You have to get down here right now! There are federal agents and Kensington's private security team tearing through your office! They're seizing every hard drive and appraisal record you've ever touched!"
Alex shot out of bed, panic surging through her veins. "They don't have a warrant for my personal archives—"
"Preston Vance gave them an affidavit claiming you destroyed evidence," her assistant sobbed. "They're going to seize everything before we can submit the defense files!"
Alex hung up, her face pale. "Dante, they're raiding Sabbes. If they destroy the physical logbooks before we verify the authentic stamps, Preston can claim I acted alone."
Dante’s eyes flared with icy menace. He picked up his secure phone and pressed a single button.
"Marco," Dante commanded, his voice cold and lethal. "Mobilize the Alpha tactical convoy. We're going to Sabbes. And call the United States Attorney General. Tell him his rogue agents in the Southern District are about to commit treason against the Moretti family."
Twenty minutes later, three armored black SUVs tore through the streets of Manhattan with flashing blue lights, parting the early morning traffic like a thunderstorm.
Inside the flagship Sabbes building on Madison Avenue, chaos reigned. Six armed private security guards hired by Kensington were loading metal file crates into a transport van, while two corrupt federal agents stood by, overseeing the illegal seizure.
Suddenly, the front glass doors were kicked open.

Dante Moretti walked in, flanked by ten heavily armed security operatives in black tactical gear. The sheer aura of death and authority Dante brought into the room caused the federal agents to freeze with their hands near their holsters.
"Take your hands off those weapons," Dante said, his voice deadly quiet. "Or none of you walk out of this lobby alive."
