Chapter 11 - Blood on the Marble

The heavy steel doors of the vault shook as the alarms wailed into the morning air.

"Stay behind me," Dante ordered, drawing a sleek black semi-automatic pistol from his tailored coat with fluid, lethal grace.

"Dante, they have automatic weapons!" Alex said, clutching the leather ledger tightly against her chest.

"They have mercenaries," Dante said calmly, his eyes narrowing into pitch-black focus. "I have an army."

Dante kicked open the side service door, leading Alex through a fortified corridor toward the private elevator. Above them, Kensington’s hired guns had ambushed the lobby, desperate to destroy the ledger before the authorities could review it.

A masked mercenary rounded the corner, raising an assault rifle.

Crack-crack!

Dante fired twice with pinpoint precision. The gunman dropped instantly. Dante stepped over the body without breaking stride, pulling Alex into the reinforced security alcove.

"Marco, status!" Dante barked into his earpiece.

"Lobby is cleared, Boss," Marco’s voice crackled through the radio. "Tactical team neutralized the perimeter. But Kensington and Preston Vance are at the private air hangar at JFK. They're boarding a private jet to Switzerland with the remaining thirty million in stolen bonds."

Dante looked down at Alex. Her hair was windswept, her green eyes fierce with adrenaline and determination. She didn't look like a victim; she looked like a warrior.

"Are you ready to end this, Alexandra?" Dante asked, a dangerous smile touching his lips.

"Let's ground that plane," she said without hesitation.
