Chapter 15 - The New Dawn of Moretti

Two years later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the manicured lawns of the Moretti coastal estate. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming jasmine and the fresh, cool breeze sweeping off Lake Geneva.

A tiny, joyous laugh echoed across the terrace.

Our fourteen-month-old daughter, Sophia, was wobbling across the soft grass on chubby little legs, chasing a golden retriever puppy that Dante had brought home for her first birthday.

She had her father’s striking hazel eyes and my dark wavy hair—a perfect, radiant blend of both of us.

Dante stepped out onto the stone patio wearing linen pants and an unbuttoned casual shirt, holding two glasses of freshly squeezed lemonade. He walked over to where I was sitting on the sun lounger, handing me a glass before bending down to kiss my lips.

“Look at her go,” Dante said, a look of profound pride and unconditional love lighting up his face as he watched Sophia stumble into the grass, giggling uncontrollably.

“She has your stubborn determination,” I laughed, leaning against his side. “She fell three times and refused to let me pick her up.”

“Good,” Dante smiled, sitting beside me and wrapping his strong arm around my shoulders. “A Moretti never stays down.”

He watched Sophia pick herself up and run after the puppy again, his expression softening into pure, unadulterated serenity.

There were no bodyguards lurking in the bushes. There were no encrypted manifests, no midnight emergency calls, and no shadows lingering in the corners of our lives.

The blood debt had been paid. The city had been cleansed.

And standing on the sunlit terrace of our home, watching our daughter laugh under the clear blue sky, I knew with absolute certainty that we were finally, permanently free.

Dante turned his head, kissing the top of my head as I rested against his chest.

“I love you, Harper,” he whispered, his voice steady, peaceful, and full of eternal promise. “Forever.”

“Forever, Dante,” I replied.

And for the first time in our lives, the world was completely at peace.
