Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Purge at Vance Global

On Monday morning at 8:30 a.m., I walked through the revolving glass doors of the Vance Global Capital tower in downtown Boston.
I was dressed in a tailored navy power suit, my late mother’s pearl necklace resting at my throat, flanked by Sarah Jenkins, David Cole, and two armed federal marshals.
The forty-second-floor executive boardroom was packed with twenty senior vice presidents and board members who had spent years kissing Arthur’s ring while treating me like an invisible housewife.
I walked directly to the head of the long mahogany table—the seat Arthur had occupied for a decade—and sat down.
"Good morning, gentlemen," I said, my voice carrying the absolute, unquestioned weight of an owner. "For the past five years, my husband ran this firm with arrogance, deceit, and reckless self-dealing. That era ended at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday."
I opened my folder, reading the immediate corporate resolutions:
Arthur Vance is formally stripped of his CEO title, his board seat, and his voting equity.
Chief Financial Officer Gregory Miller and Senior VP Marcus Vance—Arthur’s two loyalists who helped facilitate the offshore shell companies—are terminated immediately and referred to the Department of Justice.
Every single employee pension fund and junior staff bonus pool is being fully restored and doubled through my family trust’s capital reserves.

The boardroom erupted into stunned silence, followed by the immediate, enthusiastic applause of the honest junior partners who had watched the company rot from the inside.
"Welcome back, Mrs. Vance," Chairman Malcolm Reed smiled, standing up to shake my hand. "The company is finally in the right hands."
