Chapter 12 - A War Declared on the City of Shadows

The floorboards shattered as Gabriel’s men threw concussion grenades into the warehouse and stormed the upper level.
Blinding light and deafening explosions filled the massive room. Gunfire erupted instantly as Moretti's guards scrambled for cover behind stacks of industrial crates and chemical drums.
"Secure the valves!" Carmine shouted, leading three men toward the western control panel to prevent the sabotage of the chemical vats.
Gabriel moved with lethal precision. He fired with surgical accuracy, dropping two snipers positioned on the overhead crane before advancing toward the center of the room where Vincenzo and Julianna were retreating toward a reinforced vault.
"Moretti!" Gabriel's voice cut through the chaos like a cannon shot.
Vincenzo spun around, drawing a gold-plated semi-automatic pistol. "You should have stayed dead, Falcone!"
Vincenzo fired wildly. One bullet ricocheted off an iron support beam near Gabriel's head, but Gabriel didn't flinch. He advanced steadily, returning fire. The first shot struck Vincenzo's right shoulder; the second took him in the knee, sending the mafia boss crashing to the floor with a scream of agony.
Julianna shrieked, dropping her weapon and backing up against the steel vault door, her eyes wide with terror as Gabriel approached.
"Gabriel! Please!" she sobbed, holding up her hands. "He forced me! Vincenzo threatened to kill me if I didn't help him!"

"You always were a terrible liar, Julianna," Gabriel said, stopping five feet from her. "I heard every word you said through the grate."
Before Gabriel could speak another word, a heavy iron chain swung from the shadows above.
