Chapter 10 - The Trap in the Old Textile Mill

At dawn, Valenti broke.
Under Carmine's relentless interrogation in the cellar, the accountant confessed to the full scope of the conspiracy. Vincenzo Moretti had not acted alone; he had established a base of operations at the abandoned Queens Industrial Weaving Mill—the very factory where my mother had worked for decades.
Moretti was storing a massive shipment of illegal chemical weapons and military-grade munitions there, preparing for a full-scale assault on the Falcone territory by the end of the week.
"We strike them now," Carmine said, slamming the tactical map onto the briefing table. "We take fifty men, hit the front gates, and level the entire compound."
"No," I spoke up from beside Gabriel.
The room went silent. The lieutenants turned to stare at me, but this time, there was no sneering.
"The Queens mill has an underground drainage network," I explained, pointing at the blueprint on the table. "My mother used to take me there when I was a child. The vats drain into the old canal system beneath the eastern warehouse. If you hit the front gates, Moretti will detonate the chemical reserves and destroy half the borough. But if you enter through the drainage tunnels, you can seize the control valves before they know you're inside."
Gabriel looked at the blueprint, then looked at me, pride shining in his eyes.
"Prepare the tactical units," Gabriel ordered his capos. "We enter from below. Elena leads the navigation team."

"Gabriel, no," Carmine protested. "It's too dangerous for her!"
"She knows the ground better than any of us," Gabriel stated firmly. "And she rides with me."
