Chapter 11 - THE COLLAPSE OF THE SINCLAIR EMPIRE

Within twenty minutes, the Metropolitan Art Gallery was cordoned off by federal and municipal police.

Arthur Sinclair’s final desperate bid to eliminate the Moretti leadership had ended in total, catastrophic failure.

Two of his top enforcers were dead; the third was in police custody, ready to trade names for a plea deal.

By dawn, federal marshals raided Sinclair’s sprawling estate on the outskirts of the city, seizing all remaining assets, freezing offshore accounts, and placing the aging patriarch under formal arrest for conspiracy and attempted murder.

The syndicate war was over before it truly began.

In the penthouse suite of Callahan Tower, the morning sun broke through the clouds, casting a golden glow across the polished hardwood floors.

Nora sat on the terrace wrapped in a cashmere blanket, sipping a cup of black coffee, watching the city wake up below.

The balcony door slid open.

Victor walked out, wearing a simple black t-shirt and dark trousers, carrying two cups of fresh espresso. He handed one to Nora and sat down on the lounger beside her.

"The federal prosecutor just confirmed Sinclair won't be making bail," Victor said quietly, taking a sip of his coffee. "His empire is dismantled. Forever."

Nora looked over at him, noticing the faint bruise forming along his jawline from the gallery shootout.

She reached out, her fingertips gently brushing against his jaw. "You took an unnecessary risk tonight, Victor."

Victor caught her hand, turning her palm upward and pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her wrist.

"I took a calculated risk," Victor corrected gently, his dark eyes holding hers with absolute devotion. "Because I knew the best tactical mind in the city was watching my back."

Nora smiled, a profound sense of peace settling over her chest.

"Does this mean I deserve another promotion?" she teased lightly.

Victor’s smile deepened into a warm, genuine grin that made him look younger, completely stripped of the terrifying aura of the mafia boss.

"Executive COO," Victor murmured, sliding an intricate platinum ring onto her left ring finger. "And permanent co-owner of everything I built."

Nora looked down at the ring, then up into his eyes.

May you like

"Accepted," she whispered.
