Chapter 11 - THE SIEGE OF PIER 42

The rain began to fall again as three matte-black SUVs cut their headlights and pulled up behind a stack of rusted shipping containers at Pier 42.
The old warehouse loomed against the dark Boston harbor, its windows cracked, yellow light spilling out from the second-story offices.
Inside sat Petrov and his inner circle, completely unaware that their bank accounts had just been wiped clean across three continents by a series of precise keystrokes executed by Kate Bennett from the safety of the estate's mobile command van.
Damon stood beside the middle SUV, checking the magazine of his submachine gun with practiced ease.
He looked over at Kate, who sat in the passenger seat of the van illuminated by the green glow of dual computer monitors.
"Accounts are frozen," Kate said, tapping a final key.
"Every single wire transfer bounced. Petrov's offshore balances are reading zero."
Damon nodded.
"Marcus, give it three minutes for the news to reach his men."
"Copy that, boss," Marcus replied into his tactical headset, crouching behind a concrete barrier with twelve heavily armed men.
Three minutes ticked by in total silence, broken only by the sound of waves slapping against the wooden pilings of the pier.
Then, through the thermal optics on the surveillance drone hovering above the warehouse roof, the chaos began.
Doors inside the warehouse slammed open.
Shouting echoed through the corrugated metal walls.
Mercenaries were dropping their weapons, demanding their upfront cash deposits, shoving Petrov's lieutenants in frantic, violent arguments.
"They're breaking apart," Marcus whispered into his radio.
"Now," Damon commanded.
"Move in."
The strike team surged forward like a wave of dark shadows.
Explosive charges blew the heavy double doors of the warehouse inward with a deafening roar.
Gunfire erupted instantly, flashes of orange light illuminating the cavernous industrial space.
Damon moved through the crossfire with terrifying grace, his weapon firing with clinical precision, dropping two armed guards before they could even raise their sights.
Marcus and his men swept the perimeter, securing exits and disarming panicked enforcers who had lost all will to fight once they realized their paychecks were gone.
Damon pushed his way up the metal staircase leading to the second-floor office where Petrov was barricaded.
He kicked the reinforced wooden door once, twice, until the lock shattered and the door swung wide open.
Petrov stood behind his executive desk, a silver revolver shaking violently in his hand.
"Blackwell!" the Russian screamed, raising the gun.
Damon didn't hesitate.
A single shot struck Petrov's weapon, blowing the revolver out of his grip and sending it clattering across the floor.
Before Petrov could blink, Damon had closed the distance, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him hard against the glass window overlooking the harbor.
"You missed," Damon whispered, his voice dangerously low.
Petrov coughed, blood bubbling at the corner of his mouth.
"You... you can't win, Blackwell. Someone else will take my place."
"Let them try," Damon replied coldly.
He threw Petrov onto the floor at his feet and looked down at him the way a king looks at an insect.
"Marcus, pack him up."
Damon turned away, walking out onto the metal balcony overlooking the smoky warehouse floor.
Below, the battle was over.
The Russian syndicate had simply ceased to exist.

And up in the command van, Kate Bennett closed her laptop, leaning back in her chair with a calm, victorious smile.
