Chapter 10 - THE FINAL STAND AT THE SOVEREIGN

Daniel didn't panic.

His movements were terrifyingly calm as he shoved me behind his back, shielding my body with his own.

“You think Morena will trust a traitor like you, Marcus?” Daniel asked smoothly, keeping his pistol lowered.

“Morena values ambition over blind loyalty,” Marcus laughed, raising his assault rifle.

“Drop the gun, Daniel.”

“Or I turn the girl into swiss cheese.”

Before Marcus could pull the trigger, I dropped flat onto the hardwood floor, pulling my silver revolver from my ankle holster.

I didn't aim for his chest.

I aimed for the antique chandelier hanging directly above Marcus’s head.

Bang!

The bullet shattered the brass chain holding the massive crystal fixture.

Crash!

Ten thousand pounds of crystal and iron plummeted from the ceiling, crashing directly on top of Marcus!

He shrieked as he was buried beneath a mountain of glass and steel.

Daniel didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second.

He vaulted over the coffee table, planting his boot firmly on Marcus’s chest, pressing his gun barrel against the traitor’s forehead.

“You’re finished, Marcus,” Daniel growled.

Sirens wailed in the distance—federal agents and local police tipped off by Daniel’s loyal reserve captains.

Within minutes, the penthouse was swarming with law enforcement.

Marcus was hauled away in heavy steel cuffs, screaming obscenities into the night air.

The war for Boston was finally over.
