Chapter 11 - THE WAR COUNCIL IN THE BUNKER

Within twenty minutes of Julian Vance’s departure, Chloe was standing in the subterranean bunker beneath Victor’s estate.

The heavy steel doors were bolted shut.

Victor stood by the digital tactical map, his face carved from sheer granite, his gray eyes burning with a rage so absolute that the air in the room felt heavy and difficult to breathe.

Gabriel and three other senior capos stood around the console in grim silence.

"He threatened Liam," Chloe said, her voice shaking as she clutched her arms across her chest. "He said if you don't open the New York docks by Friday, my brother dies."

Victor turned around.

In two long strides, he closed the distance between them, his hands coming up to gently grasp her shoulders.

"Listen to me, Chloe," Victor said, his voice terrifyingly calm, yet vibrating with lethal power. "Liam is safe. I have moved him and his medical team to a secure safe house three miles underground with a full tactical detachment. Nobody touches him."

"Victor, he's coming for you," she pleaded, tears spilling over her lashes. "Julian Vance has an entire army from New York backing him up. You can't fight a full syndicate war alone!"

Victor smiled—a fierce, chilling grin that held no warmth at all.

"I am not alone, Chloe," Victor said softly, wiping a stray tear from her cheek with his thumb. "And Julian Vance is about to learn why nobody survives a war against a man who has nothing left to lose."

He turned back to Gabriel.

"Mobilize the North End divisions. Cut off every highway entering the city from the east. And tell our contacts in the federal prosecutor's office to release the wiretap warrants on Julian Vance’s financial accounts."

"Consider it done, Boss," Gabriel said, snapping a salute and rushing out of the bunker.
