Chapter 10 - The Clinic of Hope

Two weeks later, Daniel and Margaret drove me to a private, state-of-the-art medical clinic in Savannah, Georgia. The clinic was surrounded by beautiful gardens, its modern glass facade reflecting the blue sky.
"Clara," Margaret said as we entered the lobby. "This is the Vance Reconstruction Clinic. Dr. David Vance is one of the world's leading plastic surgeons specializing in burn reconstruction. I’ve already paid for your entire treatment plan."
"Margaret..." I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth. "This... this must cost a fortune. I can't accept this."
"You can, and you will," Margaret said, her voice gentle but firm. "This is the money your parents stole from you, Clara. We’ve managed to secure an emergency court order releasing the frozen funds from the Whitmore trust to pay for your medical expenses. This is your healing, my dear."
Dr. Vance met us in his office, his face kind and professional. He examined my scars, his fingers moving with a gentle, calculated precision.
"Clara," Dr. Vance said, showing me a digital 3D model of my face on his screen. "The damage to your skin is extensive, but with our modern laser resurfacing and advanced skin graft techniques, we can restore ninety percent of your skin's texture and mobility. You will be able to walk without pain, and you will have your face back."
"Can you really do that?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
May you like
"We can, Clara," Dr. Vance smiled. "It will take several surgeries and months of therapy, but you are strong. You survived the fire; you can survive the healing."
As I looked at the digital model of my future self, a deep, powerful sense of hope erupted in my chest. The prison of my scars was finally opening.
