Chapter 15 - A Diamond Ring, a Little Girl's Laughter, and a Brand-New Dawn

The night air was still and warm, carrying the sweet fragrance of blooming white roses.
Daniel looked up at Grace, his handsome face glowing in the warm fairy lights, his blue eyes shimmering with a love so profound it took Grace’s breath away.
In his hands, he held an open velvet box containing a magnificent, flawless vintage diamond ring—an exquisite emerald-cut diamond surrounded by delicate ivy leaves crafted from platinum, symbolizing eternal devotion and new life.
“Grace,” Daniel spoke, his deep voice thick with emotion, trembling with a vulnerability he had never shown to another human soul. “When Amelia died, I thought my life was over. I thought my heart had turned to stone, and I was forced to watch my daughter die in front of my eyes. I had all the wealth in the world, and I was completely powerless.”
Daniel reached out, taking Grace’s soft, trembling hand into his.
“Then you walked through my gates in a pair of worn sneakers, holding a broken wooden rabbit, and you gave me back my daughter. But more than that, Grace... you brought light back into my soul. You taught me how to smile again, how to hope again, and how to love again. You are the heart of this house. You are Lucy’s mother in every way that truly matters, and you are the only woman I will ever love for the rest of my days.”
Daniel took a deep, steady breath, gazing into her tear-filled brown eyes.
“Grace Ellis, will you do me the greatest honor of my life? Will you marry me and be my wife?”
Grace didn't hesitate for a single heartbeat.
Tears of overwhelming happiness spilled down her cheeks as she nodded, her voice ringing out clear and full of joy:
“Yes, Daniel! Yes! A thousand times, yes!”
Daniel stood up, let out a triumphant laugh, and lifted Grace off her feet, spinning her around in the center of the illuminated gazebo under the canopy of stars. He slid the dazzling platinum ring onto her finger, framing her face with his hands, and kissed her with a fierce, passionate devotion that sealed their future forever.
Suddenly, a tiny, joyful cheer broke out from the garden path.
“YAY! Mommy Grace!”
Daniel and Grace turned around, laughing through their tears.
Standing at the entrance of the gazebo in her bunny slippers, holding Milo tightly in her arm, was Lucy. Behind her stood Thomas and the household staff, all grinning with wide, beaming smiles, clapping and cheering for the newly engaged couple.
Lucy sprinted across the stone path and jumped right into Daniel and Grace’s open arms.
Daniel lifted his daughter up, and together, the three of them embraced tightly in the center of the glowing garden—a complete, healed, unbreakable family.
One year later, the grand Dallas cathedral was filled with over five hundred guests, from international business leaders to the humble small-town neighbors from Grace’s Oklahoma hometown.
Grace walked down the aisle in a breathtaking, custom ivory lace gown, looking like a radiant queen.
Standing at the altar in a tailored black tuxedo was Daniel Brooks, his eyes locked onto his bride, weeping tears of pure, unadulterated gratitude.
And walking right in front of Grace, serving as the proudest flower girl in the world, was four-year-old Lucy Brooks.
Lucy wore a miniature white lace dress, scattering rose petals down the aisle with a radiant, ear-to-ear smile. And nestled securely inside her small flower basket, wearing a tiny black bow tie around his wooden neck, was Milo the rabbit—the clumsy little toy that had saved an heiress’s life, exposed a dark conspiracy, and built an empire of love from the broken pieces of grief.
As Daniel and Grace took their sacred vows, promising to love, honor, and protect each other for all eternity, the sun broke through the cathedral’s stained-glass windows, bathing the new family in a warm, brilliant, heavenly light.
The darkness was gone forever.
