Chapter 11 - The Bloodline Confrontation

“Drop your weapons, Victor,” Declan stepped out of the shadows, his rifle leveled directly at Victor’s chest, his voice echoing with thunderous authority. “Your perimeter is compromised. SWAT has the building surrounded above, and my men hold every subterranean exit.”
Victor chuckled softly, showing no signs of panic. His four bodyguards raised their assault weapons, creating a tense, hair-trigger Mexican standoff in the narrow corridor.
“Declan Hayes,” Victor said, looking Declan up and down with dismissive arrogance. “A boy trying to wear his grandfather’s crown. You have no idea what you’re interfering with. This is family business.”
“Sadie is under Hayes protection,” Declan replied coldly. “Which makes it my business.”
“Sadie?” Victor mocked, shifting his gaze to Alessandra. “Is that what you call yourself now? A common servant’s name for the heiress of the Moretti bloodline? Your father would be ashamed of you, Alessandra. Hiding behind the grandson of the man who stole our docks.”
Sadie stepped past Leo, coming to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Declan. Her eyes blazed with twenty-five years of unyielding fury.
“My father died with honor, Victor,” Sadie said, her voice cutting through the damp air like a razor. “You killed your own brother for offshore account numbers you couldn't even crack without burning down a bank.”
Victor’s smile faded, replaced by an ugly, venomous sneer. “Your father was weak! He wanted to surrender our heritage to municipal regulators and corporate banks! He was going to dismantle our empire! I did what was necessary to preserve our power!”
“You preserved nothing,” Sadie retorted. “You spent twenty-five years as an exiled rat, living off crumbs while Declan built a real empire.”
Victor’s eyes flared with rage. He reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a remote detonator.
“If I cannot have the Aegis accounts, no one will,” Victor snarled. “I’ve wired thermite charges to the vault’s structural supports and the primary support columns of the bank above. In sixty seconds, this entire foundation collapses into the subway tunnels.”
“He’s bluffing!” Leo growled, raising his shotgun.
“Try me, enforcer,” Victor hissed, his thumb hovering over the red arming switch. “Give me the master key, Declan. Hand over the Hayes seal and let Alessandra open the biometric scanner, or we all burn together beneath two thousand tons of concrete.”
Declan didn't flinch. His gaze remained locked on Victor’s thumb.
“You made one mistake, Victor,” Declan said with terrifying calmness.
“And what is that?”
“You thought I brought my secretary to a negotiation,” Declan said.
In that split second, Sadie moved.
She didn't reach for her gun. She reached into her tactical vest, pulling out the heavy forged-steel shears she had retrieved from Declan’s desk after the first attack—the very weapon that had saved her life on night one.
With blinding speed, Sadie hurled the heavy steel tool across the corridor.

The forged steel spun through the air and struck Victor’s wrist with brutal force, shattering the small bones and knocking the remote detonator from his grasp.
“Fire!” Declan roared.
