Chapter 12 - Victor’s Reckoning and the Decoy Vault

With the internal saboteurs removed, Taylor and Victor faced their greatest operational challenge: reclaiming the forty-five million dollars stolen through the Apex Heritage land scheme before the funds could be dispersed across untraceable foreign accounts.

Working late into the evening in Victor’s office, Taylor tracked the movement of the stolen capital.

"Vance’s offshore team is attempting a rapid wire transfer," Taylor told Victor, pointing to a cascading series of international transaction nodes. "They are routing the money through a private bank in Zurich, then scattering it into twenty different shell corporations across Panama and the Seychelles. If those wires clear by midnight tomorrow, the money is gone forever."

"Can we freeze the transfer through international court injunctions?" Victor asked.

"An international freeze takes at least seventy-two hours," Taylor replied, shaking her head. "We don't have seventy-two hours. We have twenty-eight. But there is another way."

Victor leaned in, captivated by the fire in her eyes. "Tell me."

"The master authorization key for the Apex Heritage transfer is held in a secondary physical crypto-vault located inside Vance’s private residence in Carmel," Taylor explained. "Vance’s primary defense attorney is scheduled to retrieve that physical vault tomorrow morning under the guise of collecting 'privileged legal documents.'"

"We intercept the vault before the lawyer arrives," Victor said, his eyes flashing with determination.

"Better," Taylor smiled slyly. "We replace the encrypted master drive inside that vault with a cloned decoy drive containing an automated forensic tracing virus. When Vance’s overseas co-conspirators plug that drive in to execute the wire transfer, the virus will reverse the transaction, routing the entire forty-five million dollars directly back into Anderson Harvest Group’s primary treasury account while simultaneously transmitting their physical IP coordinates to Interpol."

Victor looked at her, stunned by the brilliance of her strategy. "You are an absolute genius, Taylor Nelson."

"I just know how to turn their own math against them," she laughed softly.

That night, operating under an emergency federal search warrant secured by the Department of Justice, Victor and Taylor accompanied federal agents into Julian Vance’s fortified estate in Carmel.

While agents secured the perimeter, Taylor sat at Vance’s private desk, carefully opening the biometric crypto-vault. With surgical precision, she swapped the master encrypted storage unit with her customized tracer drive.

At 11:45 PM the following evening, back at the Anderson headquarters, Taylor and Victor watched the live monitoring screen.

A green light flashed across the display.

Apex Transfer Initiated.

Decoy Protocol Activated.

Transaction Reversed.

Funds Recovered: $45,210,800.00.

Destination: Anderson Harvest Corporate Treasury.

A loud cheer erupted from the IT audit team gathered in the room.

Victor turned to Taylor, his eyes glistening with emotion. He didn't say a word; he simply took her face in his hands and kissed her—a deep, passionate kiss filled with months of unspoken longing, gratitude, and profound love.

Taylor wrapped her arms around his neck, melting into the kiss as the entire room applauded in celebration.
