Chapter 10 - Internal Affairs Sweeps Precinct Six

While Julian Sterling was being processed into federal custody, the storm hit Precinct Six with the force of a category-five hurricane.

At 3:00 PM, four transport vans from the State Police Internal Affairs Division pulled up to the precinct doors.

Twenty armed internal affairs investigators, accompanied by state prosecutors, stormed the building, executing comprehensive search warrants on every desk, locker, and digital server.

Sergeant Thomas Mullins was brought out from the back holding cells in full orange prison restraints, his head hung low in utter disgrace as dozens of news cameras and reporters from every major Chicago television station captured his walk of shame.

The headlines were already flashing across mobile screens and cable news worldwide:

"MASSIVE CITY HALL BRIBERY RING UNCOVERED: POLICE SERGEANT, CITY COUNCILMAN, AND BILLIONAIRE DEVELOPER INDICTED IN ELDERLY BATTERY CONSPIRACY."

In the precinct squad room, Chief Vance stood before the remaining officers, his voice shaking with gravity:

"Let today be an eternal reminder to every man and woman who wears this uniform. When you wear this badge, you serve the people—not corrupt politicians, not greedy developers, and not violent criminals. Anyone who forgot that oath is leaving this building in chains."

Two other patrol officers who had helped Mullins falsify the initial incident report were stripped of their badges on the spot and escorted out in handcuffs.

Every single fraudulent charge against my mother was officially expunged from the record with prejudice by an emergency order from the Chief Judge of the Cook County Criminal Division.
