Chapter 24 - The Execution in the SandThe interior of the mobile command center was a masterpiece of illicit tech, glowing with the red data streams of the hijacked cooling towers.

Malachi Thorne stood at the center of the room, staring at the fried screens of his broadcast equipment. The arrogant, untouchable prince of the Sovereign Trust looked completely and utterly paralyzed.

When he turned and saw me standing in the doorway, the color drained entirely from his face.

"You," Malachi choked out, his aristocratic composure shattering in a microsecond. "How did you find me? The frequency was ghosted!"

"You relied on brute force, Malachi. I rely on architecture," I said smoothly, stepping fully into the mobile bunker. My voice projected with absolute, freezing finality. "You thought you were breaking into my house. You didn't realize I left the door open so I could lock you inside."

"You’re too late," Malachi hissed, desperate panic bleeding into his voice as he backed away from David’s towering, lethal presence. "The core is already overheating! Even if you kill the broadcast now, the thermal runaway is irreversible! You still lose the city!"

"You really don't understand who you picked a fight with," David murmured, stepping forward. He didn't raise his voice. He didn't have to. The sheer menace radiating from him forced Malachi to hit his back against the wall. "I designed the thermal regulators. The analog radio receivers you hijacked? They don't control the primary cooling valves. They control the secondary exhaust vents. I built a physical failsafe into the blueprint that bypasses the digital grid completely."

Malachi’s eyes widened in unadulterated horror.

"While you were busy broadcasting your little signal," I smiled, my eyes hardening into chips of diamond, "my engineers manually flooded the primary core with liquid nitrogen. The city was never in danger, Malachi. We just needed you to think it was so you would turn your transmitter on."

"No," Malachi whispered, sliding down the wall, his grand, apocalyptic revenge evaporating into absolute ruin.

"Your mother made the mistake of threatening my son," I whispered, stepping entirely into his personal space. "You made the mistake of threatening my legacy. I warned you that Interpol works for the highest bidder. But you forgot one crucial detail."

I reached into my pocket, pulling out a sleek, encrypted tablet, and dropped it onto the floor at his feet.

"I am the highest bidder," I announced, delivering the fatal blow.

The heavy doors of the mobile bunker swung wider. A team of elite, heavily armed operatives from the UAE State Security Apparatus, coordinated by our intelligence team, marched directly into the room.

"Malachi Thorne," the lead operative barked. "You are under arrest for domestic terrorism, international sabotage, and conspiracy to commit mass destruction."

Malachi didn't fight. He was completely broken by the sheer, devastating speed of his own destruction. As the operatives snapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists, he looked up at me, tears of pure, pathetic desperation in his eyes.

"You took everything," Malachi wept as they dragged him to his feet.

"I only took what you tried to steal," I replied coldly, turning my back on him.
