Chapter 7 - The Paper Trail to the Secret Caribbean Accounts

Over the next forty-eight hours, the forensic cyber-investigators from the FBI’s Washington Field Office cracked the encrypted hard drives seized from Derek’s home office.

Inside a hidden root folder titled “Exit Strategy 2024,” the agents discovered the complete digital trail of Derek’s sociopathic planning:

The Flight Schedule: A one-way first-class ticket to Grand Cayman booked for December 18th—three weeks after my scheduled major chemotherapy cycle.

The Real Estate Purchase Agreement: A signed contract to purchase a two-million-dollar luxury beachfront villa in Seven Mile Beach, funded entirely by wire transfers originating from the Hope for Allison charitable account.

The Medical Delay Strategy: A collection of drafted emails where Derek impersonated me, sending messages to my oncology team canceling critical second-opinion appointments at Johns Hopkins, claiming that “the patient prefers palliative home care over aggressive intervention.”

Special Agent Brody walked into my hospital room on Friday afternoon, setting a color-coded summary sheet on my tray.

“Allison, your husband wasn't just waiting for you to get worse,” Brody revealed, his voice solemn. “He was actively canceling your specialized oncology consultations behind your back to ensure the disease progressed without interference.”

I stared at the emails bearing my forged digital signature.

Every missed appointment, every delayed scan, every time Derek told me “the doctors said we have to wait another month”—it had all been a calculated, slow-motion assassination attempt.

“Can you prosecute him for attempted murder, Agent Brody?” Maya asked, her knuckles turning white against the bedrail.

“We have referred the case to the United States Attorney,” Brody replied with absolute certainty. “With the physical assault witnessed by Nurse Jenkins, the medical evidence from Dr. Hayes, and these digital records, we are pursuing charges of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Healthcare Fraud, and Wire Fraud. He will never see the outside of a federal penitentiary.”
