Chapter 9 - The Live Boardroom Coup That Left Alex Speechless

At precisely 14:00 hours, the executive boardroom on the 50th floor of Salgado Tower was filled with every major shareholder, board member, and managing director of the company.

Whispers buzzed around the room like an angry hornet’s nest.

The double mahogany doors swung open.

I walked into the boardroom wearing a tailored, ivory-white Armani suit, my dark hair pulled back into an elegant, authoritative chignon. Beside me walked Gabriel Sterling, carrying three heavy leather briefcases of evidence.

The room immediately fell dead silent.

Seated at the far end of the table were three senior board members who had been loyal to Don Mateo for thirty years.

“Gentlemen, members of the board,” Gabriel began, not bothering to take a seat. He opened the briefcases, projecting the forensic data directly onto the eighty-inch conference screens. “As court-appointed co-trustee of the Don Mateo Salgado Heritage Trust, I am presenting the immediate findings of our four-hour audit.”

The screens illuminated with undeniable proof:

$14.2 million in direct embezzled funds funneled into shell accounts managed by Theresa Salgado.

Falsified commercial development appraisals signed by Alex Salgado to secure unauthorized bank loans.

The official transfer of 75% of Salgado Holdings voting shares to the sovereign trust of Lucy Salgado, with Valerie Hernandez acting as sole executive authority.

Arthur Vance, the family’s longtime lawyer, sat in the corner, his head buried in his hands, completely unable to utter a single objection.

“Under the bylaws established in 1984,” Gabriel stated with absolute legal clarity, “the board is required to take an immediate vote of no confidence regarding CEO Alexander Salgado and Vice Chairwoman Theresa Salgado.”

Mr. Harrison, the seventy-year-old senior director and Don Mateo’s oldest friend, raised his hand immediately.

“I vote aye,” Harrison said, his voice firm. “Mateo told me before he died that one day the real heart of this company would take the wheel. Valerie Hernandez has done more for this community and this company’s charity initiatives than Alex ever did from his yacht.”

One by one, every single hand around the table went up.

Unanimous.

“The motion passes,” Gabriel declared. “Alexander Salgado is officially terminated as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately, without severance, subject to criminal referral. Valerie Hernandez is appointed Interim Chairwoman of the Board.”

I stood up and looked across the room of influential leaders.

“Thank you, gentlemen,” I said with calm, unshakeable confidence. “We have a lot of work to do. Starting with cleaning house.”
