Chapter 10 - Marisol’s Confession and the Betrayal of Theresa Salgado
While Alex was being stripped of his corporate crown, the battle inside the Highland Park mansion reached its boiling point.
Federal postal inspectors and Dallas County deputies arrived at the front gates with search warrants for financial records related to the offshore shell companies.
Theresa, terrified of going to prison, immediately turned on the one person who had been her silent accomplice for ten years.
“It was all Marisol!” Theresa shrieked at the detectives in the foyer, pointing a trembling finger at the sobbing nurse. “She seduced my son! She demanded money for the children! She stole the funds from our household accounts! I had nothing to do with it!”
Marisol looked at Theresa with wide, disbelieving eyes.
For ten years, Marisol had sacrificed her own identity, living in the shadows as a "hired hand" while watching another woman raise her biological children, all because Theresa had promised that her boys would inherit hundreds of millions of dollars and that Marisol would eventually be made the legitimate lady of the house.
Now, Theresa was throwing her to the wolves without a second thought.
“You liar!” Marisol screamed, her maternal heartbreak turning into pure, vengeful rage. “You planned everything! You forced me to sign over custody! You told me if I ever told Valerie the truth, you would have my family deported to Guadalajara!”
Marisol ran to the antique credenza, tore open the bottom drawer, and pulled out a hidden leather-bound diary and a USB thumb drive.
She thrust them directly into the hands of the lead detective.

“Every conversation!” Marisol wept. “Every check Theresa wrote to pay off the clinic doctors! Every time she put chemicals in Valerie’s herbal tea so she wouldn't have another baby! It’s all recorded on this drive!”
Theresa gasped, clutching her throat, and collapsed backward onto the stairs as the deputies moved in to place her in handcuffs.
