Chapter 5 - The Corporate Video Leaks And Selina’s Arrogant Showdown

By noon, the business world in Boston had caught fire.

Despite Flynn’s frantic late-night threats to his managers, an unedited forty-second clip of the executive Zoom call had been leaked anonymously to an online corporate watchdog forum and picked up by local business blogs.

The headline was trending across LinkedIn and local news feeds:

“TECH & LOGISTICS CEO CAUGHT IN $110K EMBEZZLEMENT SCANDAL WITH ASSISTANT DURING LIVE ALL-HANDS CALL.”

The video was utterly devastating. It clearly showed Flynn whispering into Selina’s ear while she adjusted the sparkling diamond necklace, followed by his panicked reaction when I entered the room, and his complete failure to disconnect the broadcast.

I arrived at the corporate headquarters of Vance Global at 12:30 PM. I wore a sharp, charcoal-gray Armani suit, my hair pulled back into an immaculate low bun, carrying a slim leather portfolio. Thomas Croft and two senior forensic investigators walked half a step behind me.

The moment we entered the marble lobby, the atmosphere shifted.

The security guards—men who had known my father for a decade when the building was still Sterling Tower—immediately stood at attention.

“Good afternoon, Ms. Sterling,” the head of security, an ex-marine named Marcus, said with genuine respect. “It’s been too long.”

“Good afternoon, Marcus. Are the thirty-fourth-floor boardrooms secured?”

“Fully secured, ma'am. Mr. Vance and Miss Moore are inside the executive suite right now.”

“Thank you, Marcus. Please ensure that no outside personal security or unverified guests enter the thirty-fourth floor without Mr. Croft’s clearance.”

“Understood, ma'am.”

When the elevator doors opened onto the executive floor, the hallway was in a state of absolute chaos. Junior associates were whispering near the water coolers, HR managers were running between offices with heavy paper files, and the phones on the administrative desks were ringing incessantly with calls from institutional investors, bank lenders, and journalists.

Standing right outside the main boardroom was Selina Moore.

She was wearing a designer cream-colored dress, her hair styled in loose waves, holding a luxury leather handbag that had also undoubtedly been paid for on a corporate card. Despite the online leak, she still possessed the breathtaking arrogance of a mistress who believed her lover was an untouchable king.

When she saw me walking down the corridor accompanied by two corporate attorneys, her lips curled into a disdainful sneer.

“Mrs. Vance,” she said loudly enough for several nearby staff members to hear. “If you’re here to cause another scene, you should know that Flynn has already instructed corporate security to have you escorted from the building. You don’t have an employee badge, and your domestic presence is disrupting corporate operations.”

I stopped two feet in front of her. I looked down at the diamond necklace still resting brazenly against her collarbone.

“You’re still wearing it,” I remarked with calm fascination.

Selina lifted her chin, touching the center stone with her manicured fingernails. “Flynn gave this to me because I deliver results that you could never understand. While you sat at home doing nothing, I helped build this company into an eight-figure powerhouse. You think catching us in a minor indiscretion gives you leverage? Flynn runs this company. He controls the board. In two hours, he’s going to release a statement clearing everything, and you’ll be out on the street with your child support check.”

Thomas Croft stepped forward, adjusting his gold cufflinks. “Miss Moore, I strongly advise you to close your mouth. As legal counsel for Sterling Heritage Holdings, I must inform you that every statement you make in this hallway is being recorded under corporate audit protocol.”

Selina scoffed, rolling her eyes. “I don’t care who you are. Flynn’s word is law here.”

“Miss Moore,” I said, my voice cutting through the ambient office noise like an icy blade. “At precisely 1:15 PM today, forensic examiners will serve a court-ordered seizure notice for that necklace, your Back Bay apartment lease, your company-leased vehicle, and all personal hardware in your possession.”

Her smirk flickered for a fraction of a second. “You can’t do that. Flynn signed the lease!”

“Flynn signed the lease using funds stolen from a trust that belongs entirely to me,” I said. “You have forty-five minutes to enjoy that necklace, Selina. Because when you take it off today, you will be handing it directly to an evidence bag carried by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department.”

Selina’s face suddenly drained of its smug confidence. Her eyes darted toward the boardroom doors, looking for the man she thought could save her.

I didn't give her another second of my attention. I pushed open the heavy double doors of the boardroom and stepped inside to confront my husband.
