Chapter 8 - The Syndicate Coup: Marcus Kane's Treachery Exposed

While Graham was begging outside the gates of Sullivan’s Island, Marcus Kane was putting his betrayal into motion.
Marcus had discovered that Elena had frozen the harbor berths. With the $200 million arms shipment scheduled to arrive on the cargo vessel The Black Valkyrie at midnight, Marcus realized that if the ship couldn't dock at Berth 9, the international cartel would execute everyone involved.
Marcus gathered fifty heavily armed syndicate mercenaries at an abandoned warehouse near the Cooper River docks.
“Calloway has lost his mind over his wife,” Marcus sneered to the gathered captains, racking the slide of his automatic pistol. “He’s running around buying flowers while the entire empire is going up in flames. Tonight at midnight, we take Berth 9 by force. We unload the shipment, eliminate the Sterling port guards, and assume full control of the Charleston waterfront. Calloway is finished.”
What Marcus Kane did not know was that every word spoken inside that warehouse was being transmitted live to a secure server at Sullivan’s Island.
I sat in my father’s old study overlooking the ocean, listening through the headphones with a team of federal agents and private tactical directors.
“Are the federal marshals in position at Berth 9?” I asked calmly.
Special Agent Sarah Vance nodded. “Three tactical strike teams are concealed inside the shipping containers. The moment Marcus breaches the security gates, he’s walking straight into a federal sting operation.”

I stood up, adjusting the lapels of my black wool coat.
“Let’s go to the docks,” I said. “I’m going to watch my father’s harbor get cleaned up once and for all.”
