Chapter 6 - The Dashcam Video That Exposed The Mistress’s Dirty Secret

As I glided down the staircase, the most powerful men and women in the room—individuals who had ignored Adrian Cole for years—parted like the Red Sea, bowing and murmuring respectful greetings as I passed.
“Madam Hart, an honor to see you back in New York,” murmured a Swiss banking magnate, bowing low over my hand.
“Thank you, Heinrich,” I replied with a gracious, razor-sharp smile. “It’s good to be home.”
Adrian, trembling with a mixture of disbelief, panic, and desperate greed, pushed through the crowd toward me, his face glistening with a sheen of cold sweat.
“Eleanor!” Adrian choked out, reaching toward my arm. “Eleanor, what is the meaning of this? You... you’re the head of the Hartwell Trust? Why didn’t you tell me? We’re husband and wife! We can fix this misunderstanding!”
Before his fingers could even graze the fabric of my gown, Marcus stepped between us like an iron wall, his massive hand clamping onto Adrian’s wrist with bone-crushing force, twisting it downward.
“Step back, Mr. Cole,” Marcus warned in a lethal, low voice. “You are within six inches of committing another assault. Do not tempt me.”
Adrian winced in pain, clutching his wrist as Marcus released him.
Vanessa, desperate to salvage her status and furious at being upstaged, pushed past Adrian, pointing an accusing, trembling finger at me.
“Don’t act so high and mighty, Eleanor!” Vanessa shrieked, her high-society facade completely shattering into screeching hysteria. “You think having money makes you better than me? You’re still a bitter, violent, jealous psycho who vandalized my Porsche because you knew Adrian loved me more!”
Several elite guests gasped, recoiling from Vanessa’s unhinged outburst.
I looked at Vanessa with calm, unbothered pity.
I gave a subtle nod to Julian, who was standing beside the master AV control console that operated the museum’s massive holographic presentation screens, normally used for showcasing auction items.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Julian’s deep voice resonated through the state-of-the-art acoustic system. “Since Ms. Vale has brought up the matter of her damaged sports car, allow us to present the official municipal traffic forensics provided directly to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.”
With a single tap on Julian’s tablet, the massive screens flanking the Temple of Dendur illuminated.
The high-definition surveillance video played for all five hundred high-society guests to see.
The video clearly displayed the timestamp, the license plate, and Vanessa Vale’s face in crystalline detail. The entire room watched in stunned silence as Vanessa took a heavy screwdriver from her purse, looked around nervously, and aggressively scratched a deep, violent gouge across the side of her own silver Porsche.
The video then cut to an intercepted audio recording between Vanessa and a known market manipulator:
“I just keyed the car,” Vanessa’s recorded voice echoed through the museum speakers, clear as crystal. “Adrian bought it completely. He’s locking Eleanor in the study right now to beat her into signing the zero-dollar divorce. Once she’s out of the picture, Adrian will sign over thirty percent of Cole Meridian’s equity to my offshore shell company before the merger clears.”
A collective gasp of disgust and shock swept through the elite crowd.
Vanessa’s face turned from pale to an ashen, sickly green. She clutched her throat, stumbling backward into a waiter carrying a tray of champagne flutes, sending glass crashing across the floor.
“No... no, that’s fake! That’s AI generated!” Vanessa screamed, her voice cracking in pure terror.
Adrian turned slowly toward Vanessa, his eyes bulging with veins of pure rage and betrayal.
“You... you staged it?” Adrian stammered, his fists clenching so hard his knuckles bled. “You made me beat my wife... you made me destroy my own marriage... over a lie?!”
“Adrian, listen to me!” Vanessa cried, reaching for his lapels. “I did it for us! I did it so we could have everything!”
“Get your filthy hands off me!” Adrian roared, shoving her violently away.
I looked at the two of them standing amidst the broken glass, tearing each other apart like rabid dogs.

“You didn’t destroy your marriage over a lie, Adrian,” I said, my voice cutting through the hall with absolute authority. “You destroyed it because you are a violent, arrogant coward who thought power gave you the right to abuse those you believed were weak.”
Right on cue, the heavy brass entrance doors of the museum swung open.
