Chapter 14 - The Wrath of the Don

The darkness was instantly shattered by the thunderous roar of a heavy semi-truck smashing through the warehouse loading bay doors.
Smoke grenades detonated in rapid succession, filling the warehouse with blinding white phosphor smoke.
Then came the gunfire.
It was not a shootout; it was an execution.
Gabriel Costa moved through the smoke like the angel of death.
Equipped with night-vision optics and unmatched combat lethality, Gabriel dropped Moretti’s mercenaries one by one with terrifying precision.
Screams echoed through the rafters.
Vance tried to flee toward the rear exit, but Gabriel appeared from the shadows, shattering Vance’s knee with a single shot before breaking his neck with a brutal, fluid strike.
Moretti panicked, grabbing Tessa from behind and pressing his gun against her temple.
“Hold your fire, Gabriel, or I’ll blow her brains out!” Moretti shrieked into the smoke.
The smoke parted.
Gabriel walked forward, his eyes burning with demonic fury.
He lowered his weapon.
“Let her go, Victor,” Gabriel said, his voice deadly quiet. “And I will let you die quickly.”
“Screw you!” Moretti screamed, his finger tightening on the trigger.
In that fraction of a second, Tessa remembered her mother’s lessons.
Tessa drove the heel of her Italian leather shoe directly into Moretti’s foot while slamming her elbow backward into his ribs.
Moretti grunted, his aim slipping.
In that millisecond, Gabriel drew a concealed blade from his wrist sheath and threw it with pinpoint accuracy.
The blade buried itself to the hilt in Moretti’s throat.
Moretti gagged, dropping his weapon, and collapsed onto the blood-soaked concrete.
Gabriel rushed forward, catching Tessa before she could fall.

He severed her ropes with his combat knife and pulled her fiercely into his arms.
“I have you,” Gabriel breathed, burying his face in her neck, his entire body trembling with relief. “You are safe.”
