Chapter 13 - Kidnapped into the Lion’s Den

Tessa woke up tied to a heavy steel chair in an abandoned shipping warehouse on the industrial waterfront.

The air smelled of salt water, rust, and diesel.

Victor Moretti stood in front of her, holding a glass of scotch.

Beside him stood the traitor Vance.

“Look at the little princess,” Moretti sneered, tapping the flat of his knife against Tessa’s chin. “Elena’s daughter. Isabella’s little pet. Gabriel has been tearing the city apart for the last three hours trying to find you.”

Tessa spat blood onto the concrete floor and looked Moretti dead in the eye.

She did not cry.

The blood of Elena Lynn—the woman who had defied an entire army—ran through her veins.

“When Gabriel gets here,” Tessa said with chilling calm, “he won’t just kill you, Victor. He will erase your entire name from history.”

Moretti’s sneer faltered slightly at her unnatural composure.

“He won’t get the chance. The moment he steps through that door, fifty snipers will turn him into Swiss cheese.”

Suddenly, the warehouse lights flickered and died.

Total darkness swallowed the room.
