Chapter 4 - The Stolen Blueprints Inside The Luxury Penthouse Vault

By 10:00 AM, a convoy of four unmarked black SUVs pulled up to the curb outside 740 Park Avenue—one of the most exclusive, fortress-like residential buildings in Manhattan.
Massimo stepped out, flanked by Isabella, Arthur Vance, two court-appointed bailiffs carrying an emergency search and seizure order, and six plainclothes Lombardi security specialists.
The building’s concierge stepped forward nervously, his hands shaking as he saw the grim procession. "Mr. Lombardi... Mr. Hale’s attorneys called thirty minutes ago. They stated that no one is authorized to enter Penthouse B—"
The lead bailiff flashed a gold state badge and thrust a certified court order signed by the Chief Justice of the New York State Supreme Court directly into the manager's face.
"Court order, authorized for immediate forced entry. Stand aside or be charged with felony obstruction of justice."
The elevator ride to the penthouse was silent.
When the double mahogany doors to Penthouse B slid open, the opulent interior revealed the aftermath of a chaotic morning. Drawers had been left open; designer luggage stood half-packed near the foyer. Vanessa Hale’s personal assistant was frantically shoving designer clothing into leather garment bags.
"Step away from the luggage and put your hands on the counter," Viktor Kozlov ordered, stepping into the foyer with his team.
The assistant shrieked, dropping a pile of silk dresses onto the marble floor.
Isabella walked past the living room, heading directly down the long hallway toward Grant’s private executive study. She punched her personal code into the biometric keypad beside the reinforced steel door.
ACCESS DENIED.
"He changed the security codes three months ago," Isabella said, her voice tight.
Massimo stepped forward, gesturing to two of his men who were carrying a hydraulic breaching tool. "Open it."
With a sickening screech of tearing metal, the heavy reinforced door was forced open in less than twenty seconds.
The room smelled of stale cigar smoke, expensive leather, and panic.
Isabella bypassed the massive mahogany desk and walked straight to the floor-to-ceiling modern art installation on the western wall. She slid the canvas aside, revealing a heavy biometric wall safe.
"This was my mother's safe," Isabella said, her voice shaking with rage. "It was brought from our old estate in Greenwich after she died. It requires a dual mechanical key and a digital passkey."
Massimo stepped forward, pulling a heavy brass key from his waistcoat pocket—a key he had carried on his person for forty years. He inserted it into the mechanical cylinder and turned it.
CLICK.
Isabella entered her mother’s birthday on the digital keypad.
The heavy steel door swung open.
Inside, the shelves were nearly stripped bare. But what remained was enough to blow the high-jewelry world wide open.
Neatly stacked inside four leather-bound portfolios were the original, hand-drawn gouache sketches of Isabella’s masterwork: The Celestial Constellation Collection. Over three hundred individual designs, rendered in microscopic detail with Isabella’s personal handwritten notes on platinum metallurgy, diamond-setting angles, and gemological sourcing.
Next to the sketches were three encrypted external hard drives.
Vance slipped on a pair of white cotton gloves, lifted the first drive, and plugged it into a rugged forensic laptop carried by his technical specialist.
Within seconds, the file directory decrypted.
"Good God," Vance whispered, staring at the screen. "It’s all here."
The directory contained digital logs documenting the unauthorized transfer of every single piece of Isabella’s intellectual property to Maison Vaneau in Miami—a boutique secretly registered to an offshore shell corporation owned by Grant and Vanessa Hale.
The timestamps showed that over sixty proprietary high-jewelry designs had been uploaded directly to manufacturing facilities in Guangzhou and Milan while Isabella had been confined to her bedroom with fractured ribs.
"They were liquidating my entire life's work," Isabella said, her eyes blazing with a fury that mirrored her father's. "They were going to launch the collection under Vanessa’s name in Paris next month, claim I was mentally incapacitated, and strip me of every royalty I ever earned."
Massimo reached into the safe and pulled out a single, empty velvet tray.
The indentations in the silk clearly showed where a necklace, a tiara, and an heirloom bracelet had rested for decades.
"Teresa’s emeralds," Massimo said, his voice flat, deadly, and devoid of warmth. "Where are they?"
Isabella looked at the open desk drawers across the room. A business receipt from a high-end private vault facility in Midtown lay crumpled near the wastebasket.

Massimo picked up the receipt, glanced at the box number, and handed it to Viktor.
"Take four men. Secure that vault before the sister’s lawyers can touch it. If anyone resists... handle it."
