Chapter 11 - The Counterstrike

Matteo and three Salvatore enforcers breached the inner prep room thirty seconds later, eliminating the remaining two Rossi guards and freeing Dr. Vance and his surgical team unharmed.
"Dr. Vance!" I called out desperately from the hallway. "We need a trauma kit for Dominic, and Chloe is on her way in the secondary armored transport!"
Dr. Vance, though shaken, snapped into professional mode immediately. "Bring Mr. Salvatore into Trauma Bay 2! Prep the sterile surgical suite for the pediatric patient!"
Dominic refused full anesthesia until he saw Chloe safely wheeled through the sterile double doors.
When Chloe was wheeled in on the pediatric gurney, wrapped in her little blanket, she saw Dominic lying on the trauma bed beside her.
"Prince Dominic?" she whispered, her voice weak. "Are you hurt?"
Dominic forced himself to sit up slightly, masking his excruciating pain with a reassuring, warm smile. "Just a scratch, little bird. The doctors are going to fix your heart today, and when you wake up, you will be able to run as fast as the wind."
"Will you be there when I wake up?" Chloe asked, reaching out her small hand.
Dominic took her tiny hand in his and kissed her knuckles. "I swear on my life. I will be right here."
Chloe smiled peacefully as the pediatric anesthesiologist administered the gentle sedative, and her eyes drifted shut.
As they wheeled Chloe into the operating theater, Dominic looked at Matteo. The warmth vanished from his eyes, replaced by a cold, calculating fury that defied his physical injuries.
"Matteo," Dominic commanded, his voice tight with pain. "Take squads two and four. Corner Don Rossi at his private yacht at the South Boston Marina. Do not let him board. I will deal with him personally once this surgery is finished."

"Boss, you have two bullet wounds!" Matteo protested.
"Patch me up, Doctor," Dominic said, looking at Dr. Vance with unyielding authority. "You have twenty minutes before I leave this hospital."
