Julian Vance collapsed into his chair, burying his face in his hands, weeping openly as federal agents pulled his arms behind his back and snapped steel handcuffs onto his wrists.
Evelyn fought like a wild animal as two female federal marshals secured her wrists, screaming obscenities toward the stage, her diamonds catching the glare of fifty media camera lenses documenting her absolute humiliation.
“Dominic! You treacherous dog!” Evelyn shrieked as she was dragged down the center aisle before the entire economic elite of New York. “I built this family! You would be nothing without me!”
“My father built this family, Evelyn,” I said into the microphone, my voice echoing through the hall over her screams. “You were just a thief who lived in his shadow.”
The auditorium erupted into a standing ovation as the double doors at the back of the hall closed behind the disgraced Vances, sealing their fate forever.
The media was in an absolute frenzy, shouting questions, thrusting microphones toward the stage.

“Today, Moretti Group returns to its founding principles,” I announced to the global press. “Effective immediately, Miss Emily Carter is appointed Executive Vice President of Philanthropic Preservation and Chief Historic Steward of Moretti Enterprises, with full operational authority over our global charitable endowments.”

The board members rose to their feet once more, applauding the woman who had walked out of the shadows of poverty to claim her rightful throne.
Emily looked at me, her eyes filled with tears of pure triumph and relief. Lily looked up at the five hundred standing adults, hugging her stuffed rabbit, and gave a small, proud wave to the flashing cameras.
