Chapter 8 - The Unseen Eyes|

The black town car carrying Isabella navigated the slick, rain-soaked streets of Manhattan, eventually turning into an underground parking garage beneath a private high-rise building in the Financial District.
Inside the rear passenger seat of a tinted SUV three blocks away, Dante watched four high-definition video feeds streaming directly from micro-cameras his men had planted inside Isabella’s town car while it was parked at the estate earlier that afternoon.
On the primary screen, Isabella opened her designer leather handbag. She pulled out the hollow bronze seal, running her manicured fingers over the carved hawk with an expression of triumphant greed.
She dialed a phone number on an encrypted satellite phone.
“It’s done,” Isabella said into the receiver, her voice dropping its soft Italian accent, replaced by a cold, sharp American cadence. “I have the Moretti seal.”
A raspy, aging voice answered over the speaker. Don Carmine Russo.
“Did Dante suspect anything?” Carmine asked.
“Dante is an idiot,” Isabella sneered with a cold laugh. “He’s so blinded by his love for me that he blamed the missing staff on a toddler. He thinks I’m attending a charity gala while he goes to deal with a fake pier dispute in Brooklyn.”
Inside the SUV, Mateo turned to look at Dante. Dante sat perfectly still, his eyes fixed on the screen, his face as unreadable as stone.
“Good,” Don Carmine grunted over the line. “Bring the seal to the penthouse suite on the 40th floor. The bank’s corrupt vice president is already here with the master ledger. By midnight, all four hundred million dollars in Moretti maritime deeds will be legally transferred to our shell corporation in Panama.”
“I’m coming up now, Father,” Isabella said, snapping her bag shut.
Dante reached forward and tapped the touchscreen, cutting the audio feed.
“Mateo,” Dante commanded smoothly. “Block all electronic transmissions coming out of that building. Cut the elevator power grids on floors thirty-nine through forty-one.”

“Yes, Boss,” Mateo answered, typing rapidly into his tablet. “What about the security guards in the lobby?”
“Eliminate them quietly,” Dante ordered. “We leave no witnesses tonight.”
