Chapter 8 - The Raid on the Easter Estate

At 7:15 p.m., the quiet of the Sinclair estate was shattered for the second time that day.

A convoy of ten black federal vehicles, accompanied by an armored SWAT transport, tore through the shattered iron gates, parking in an aggressive tactical formation around the main mansion.

Fifty armed federal agents in tactical gear, bearing search warrants for evidence of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, and human trafficking, advanced up the stone steps.

Victoria Sinclair was sitting in the parlor, crying hysterically, while Richard was frantically trying to shove stacks of cash and gold bars into a leather duffel bag.

"Federal agents! Open the door!" a voice boomed through a megaphone.

Before Richard could zip the bag, the heavy mahogany front doors were blown off their hinges by a hydraulic breaching charge.

Smoke filled the foyer as tactical officers flooded the home, their red laser sights instantly locking onto Richard’s chest.

"Drop the bag! Hands on your head! On the floor right now!" an agent roared.

"Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Richard screamed, dropping the duffel bag and throwing himself face-down onto the floor, trembling violently as two heavy boots pressed into the small of his back.

The heavy steel handcuffs clicked shut around his wrists with a sharp, unforgiving snap.

An investigator walked over to the coffee table, carefully placing Lily's bloodstained Easter dress and the broken pieces of the crystal glass into forensic evidence containers.

"Richard Sinclair," the lead agent said, looking down at the trembling billionaire heir. "You are under arrest for federal felony domestic assault, witness intimidation, and conspiracy to commit racketeering. You have the right to remain silent."

As Richard was dragged out of his home in handcuffs, past the ruined Easter decorations and the crying servants, he looked up at the sky, finally realizing that no amount of his father's money could save him from the storm he had unleashed.
