Chapter 15 - The New Horizon

Six months later, the spring flowers bloomed across the lawns of Queens and Riverdale alike.

The trial of Sabine Lockidge and the corrupt board members had ended swiftly with life sentences without parole.

The Rallo empire had transitioned into a legitimate shipping and logistics corporation, completely cleansed of its criminal past.

At the newly established Hollis-Rallo Free Clinic in Ridgewood, Dr. Tamson Hollis—now a registered nurse practitioner—locked her office door at the end of a long shift.

She stepped out into the warm afternoon sunshine.

Parked at the curb was a familiar black town car.

Evander leaned against the passenger door, wearing a simple dark jacket without the heavy armor of his past life.

He pushed off the car and walked over to meet her.

"You're late," Evander said, a faint smile touching his lips.

"Saving lives takes longer than expected," Tamson replied, sliding her medical bag onto her shoulder.

"How is your mother?"

"She's downstairs in the courtyard," Evander said. "Eating toast with extra butter and complaining about the nurse."

Tamson laughed. "I'll go check on her tomorrow."

Evander reached out, taking her hand gently in his.

The scars of the past were still there, etched into their memories like old bullet holes.

But the war was over.

The ghosts had finally been laid to rest.

May you like

Evander opened the car door for her, and Tamson stepped inside, ready for a tomorrow that finally belonged to them both.

THE END
