I no longer needed Vivien close.
Dinner.
Same table.
Same pale green dress style she liked.
I placed her engagement ring box beside her plate.
She frowned.
“What is this?”
“Yours.”
Her expression changed.
“Lorenzo—”
“I know about Serra.”
Silence.
“The vault.”
Her face drained.
“Your father.”
She stood.
“You searched me?”
“Yes.”
“You bastard.”
“Probably.”
Then:
“You threatened a three-year-old child.”
Vivien stopped.
That was the moment she understood.
“Mia.”
“Yes.”
“She told you.”
“No.”
I smiled coldly.
“She showed me.”
For the first time, Vivien looked frightened.
“You have no idea what you’re dealing with.”
“Then explain.”
Instead she ran.
Security stopped her outside.
But Vivien had one final surprise.
Her phone triggered a signal.
May you like
Somewhere else.
At the old port.
