Chapter 10 - The Truth Unveiled: The Carter Name and the Lost Alliance
Before Silvio could pull the trigger, Luca moved.
With blinding speed, Luca caught Silvio’s wrist, twisting the bone until a sickening crack echoed through the boardroom. The revolver fell from Silvio’s limp fingers, clattering onto the granite table.
Luca slammed Silvio’s face down into the hard stone, drawing his own blade and driving it straight through the palm of Silvio’s hand, pinning it to the mahogany tabletop.
Silvio let out an agonizing, bloodcurdling howl that shook the room.
Camille dropped to her knees, sobbing in terror as Moretti guards disarmed the remaining Russo bodyguards.
Luca leaned down over Silvio’s ear, his voice dripping with venom. “You threatened my woman. You hunted her mother. And you brought war into my house.”
Luca looked over at Don Falcone and the council. “What is the verdict of the commission?”
Don Falcone looked at the bloodied traitor on the table, then at Emma, who stood with her head held high, watching the justice unfold without a single flinch.
“By the laws of the Commission,” Don Falcone declared, “the Russo family is stripped of all territory, docks, and assets. Silvio Russo is condemned to death for high treason against the alliance.”
Don Falcone turned toward Emma, bowing his head in deep, solemn respect. “Miss Carter, your mother’s courage saved this syndicate from total annihilation fifteen years ago. By right of blood and restitution, the Russo harbor empire and all its holdings are hereby transferred to your name.”
Emma stood tall, feeling the weight of her mother’s legacy finally being honored after fifteen years of suffering.
“I accept the restitution,” Emma said with quiet, absolute authority. “And I place the administration of the docks under the joint leadership of the Moretti family.”
Teresa Moretti stood from her seat, a triumphant, brilliant smile lighting up her face. She raised her teacup.
“To the new Queen of the Eastern Seaboard,” Teresa toasted.
