Chapter 8
Before Arthur’s finger could squeeze the trigger, Damian moved with blinding speed.
He intercepted the gun barrel, pushing it upward into the air.
A shot blasted through the sunroof of the Mercedes.
Damian twisted Arthur’s wrist until a sharp bone-breaking snap echoed in the cramped interior.
Arthur screamed in agony, dropping the weapon onto the floorboards.
Damian dragged Arthur out of the car by his collar, slamming him face-first onto the wet cobblestones.
Victoria shrieked, clutching her designer handbag as if it could shield her.
“Get away from him!” Victoria cried, glaring at Clara with pure venom. “You think you’ve won? My father’s associates will slaughter every single person in this house before dawn!”
Clara stepped closer, looking down at Victoria with quiet disdain.
“My mother cooked for monsters like you for five years,” Clara said softly. “She smiled through the humiliation because she had a daughter to feed.”
Clara opened the manila folder and pulled out a second set of documents.
“And you killed her because she found out you were laundering syndicate money through shell companies,” Clara continued.
Victoria’s expression shifted from arrogance to panic.
“How... how did you find that?” Victoria whispered.
“Chef Gerard kept the basement logs,” Clara answered. “Every single visitor, every single illegal transfer, every bribe.”
Gerard stepped out from the porch, holding a secure flash drive in his hand.
He gave Clara a respectful nod.
“I owed Joanne that much,” Gerard said quietly. “She was the only one in this house who ever treated me like a human being.”
Damian kept his boot planted firmly on Arthur’s back.
“The federal prosecutor in Manhattan received a complete data package ten minutes ago,” Damian told Arthur. “By sunrise, your accounts will be frozen, and your properties seized.”
Arthur groaned into the mud, completely defeated.

“You’re finished, Costello,” Arthur choked out. “They’ll come after you too.”
“Let them try,” Damian replied.
