PART 7: THE VENDOR AVALANCHE

The bridesmaids began aggressively whispering among themselves.

Rachel stared at Vanessa, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock and disgust. “You told us the Plaza Hotel gave you the grand ballroom for free because you were a luxury brand partner.”

Vanessa snapped, stepping toward her former friend. “Stay out of this, Rachel! It's none of your business!”

Claire closed the portfolio with finality. “Our corporate attorney is currently notifying every single vendor on your list that Laurent House Bridal has absolutely no connection to your wedding, and that your claims of sponsorship are fraudulent.”

Diane’s mouth fell open in horror. “They’ll cancel the contracts. The wedding is in three days!”

“They deserve the truth before they provide tens of thousands of dollars in luxury services based on a criminal misrepresentation,” Claire stated firmly.

Vanessa lunged toward the desk, trying to grab the portfolio. “Give me that! You're ruining my life!”

Elena smoothly stepped between them, and a burly, suited security officer entered from the main lobby, placing a firm hand on his radio. Vanessa stopped dead in her tracks.

Claire had spent years learning that revenge performed in anger could turn the guilty into victims. She would not give Vanessa that opportunity. There would be no screaming match. There would be no physical retaliation. There would be no dramatic destruction of Vanessa’s property.

There would only be contracts. Evidence. Witnesses. And cold, hard consequences.

“The bridal trade network will receive a factual risk notice by 5:00 PM today,” Claire informed her calmly. “It will include the unpaid invoice, the documented fraudulent sponsorship claims, and the intentional destruction of boutique property.”

“You’re blacklisting me?” Vanessa whispered, tears of actual terror finally welling in her eyes.

“I am warning other businesses not to extend you credit based on lies.”

“No designer in this city will ever work with me!”

“Designers may make their own decisions based on the facts.”

“My wedding is Saturday!” Vanessa screamed, her voice echoing tragically through the grand room.

“You should have considered the date before you took a pair of scissors to a terrified child inside a business you had not paid,” Claire replied.

Vanessa’s toxic entitlement flared one last time. “You think because you have money now, you’re better than me?”

Claire shook her head slowly, looking at her niece with profound pity. “No, Vanessa. The way I treat people makes me better than you.”
