PART 5: THE THREAT AND THE EVIDENCE

“You may leave immediately after returning my gown,” Claire said, her posture unyielding.

Vanessa tried to aggressively push her way between two of the heavy privacy screens. Elena, the manager, smoothly stepped into the gap, blocking the path without ever laying a finger on the frantic bride.

“Your personal clothing is ready inside the fitting suite, Ms. Mercer,” Elena instructed calmly.

“Move out of my way, you glorified tailor!” Vanessa snarled.

“Please return the gown voluntarily, or we will have to escalate the situation,” Elena warned.

Vanessa reached into her clutch and pulled out her smartphone, holding it up like a weapon. “If you don't let me leave with my dress right now, I’m calling the police. I’ll tell them you’re holding me hostage.”

Claire didn't flinch. She simply nodded. “Please do.”

Vanessa hesitated, her thumb hovering over the keypad. She had expected panic. She had expected Claire to back down to avoid a public scandal.

Instead, Elena walked over to the marble reception desk and picked up a thick, meticulously organized incident folder. She placed it squarely on the glass table. Inside were pristine copies of the unpaid invoice, the signed fitting terms, the property-retention clause, a preliminary damage report, signed witness statements from the staff, and high-definition camera timestamps.

Claire walked over and added the sealed plastic evidence sleeve containing the heavy silver scissors.

“The police can review everything when they arrive,” Claire said, her voice perfectly even. “Including the 4K video footage of you intentionally destroying clothing with a sharp weapon while a minor was wearing it. I believe the authorities might classify that as reckless endangerment and destruction of property. Shall I dial 911 for you?”

Vanessa slowly lowered her phone. For the first time in her pampered, sheltered life, genuine, paralyzing fear replaced her entitlement. She realized she was not dealing with a pushover aunt; she was dealing with a corporate CEO who had weaponized the law against her.

Without another word, Vanessa turned and stepped behind the privacy screens, pulling the curtain shut.
