Chapter 6: The Uninvited Guest

The arrival of a black sedan at dawn shattered the tentative calm. It wasn't Damon’s driver. It was Julian—Damon’s brother, the very man they had been speaking of. He walked into the mansion as if he still owned the deed, his smile wide and teeth-baring, entirely oblivious to the fact that his secrets were being unraveled thread by thread.

“Brother!” Julian boomed, his voice echoing through the vaulted entryway, bouncing off the marble floors. “I heard there was trouble. I came to help.”

Damon stood at the top of the stairs, his hands clasped behind his back, his posture radiating a dangerous, predatory stillness. He didn't move. He didn't invite him in. He merely watched as Julian adjusted his cufflinks. “The only trouble here, Julian, is the poison you’ve been pouring into this family for years. And I think you’ve finally run out of antidotes.”

Julian laughed, a dismissive, airy sound. “Always so dramatic. I have the files, Damon. The ones you think you’ve hidden. I’m here to make you a deal. Hand over the management of the western acquisitions, and these little ‘transgressions’ disappear.”

Grace appeared behind Damon, her presence quiet but immovable. “There are no more deals, Julian,” she said, her voice steady. “There is only the truth. And the truth doesn't negotiate.”
