Chapter 8 - When the Mask Finally Slips

The moment my black helicopter lifted off from the estate’s private helipad at 2:00 PM, Elena wasted no time.
What she didn't know was that the helicopter flew only fifteen miles out to a private airfield in Fulton County, where I immediately transferred to an unmarked surveillance van equipped with live feeds from forty hidden micro-cameras installed inside my mansion while she was asleep.
Inside the surveillance van, Marco, Dr. Julian Vance, and I wore high-definition tactical headsets, monitoring Elena’s every move.
On Screen 1, we watched Elena walk briskly into my private study. She opened the bottom drawer of my desk, searching for financial records. When she found nothing, she pulled an encrypted burner phone from her bra and dialed a number.
Julian enhanced the audio feed through our directional microphones.
“Antonio,” Elena’s voice came through the speakers, devoid of any warmth or southern charm. It was harsh, cold, and calculating. “Vincent just left for Savannah to sign over the trust documents.”
A deep, gravelly voice answered on the other end—Antonio Falcone. “Is the little girl finished?”
“Not yet,” Elena sneered. “Vincent claimed she saw shapes this morning. The dose is taking too long. I’m going to administer the remaining five ampoules in her afternoon pudding today. By the time Vincent lands tonight, the optic nerves will be completely liquefied, and the respiratory failure will look like an accidental pediatric overdose from her prescription medication.”
“Good,” Falcone chuckled darkly. “Once the girl is gone and Vincent signs the trust, my hit team will stage a car accident on his return from the airport. By tomorrow morning, the entire Moretti empire belongs to us, Elena. You played him like a fool.”
“He was pathetic,” Elena laughed coldly. “A grieving father blinded by his own sentimentality. I’ll see you tonight at the harbor warehouse to celebrate.”
Inside the surveillance van, Marco cocked his submachine gun with a loud, metallic CLACK.
“Give the word, Vincent,” Marco growled, his face twisted in pure rage. “I’ll take six guys and tear that mansion apart right now.”
“No,” I commanded, my voice eerily calm, the ice in my soul freezing over into absolute tactical precision. “We don't just kill Elena. We eradicate the entire Falcone bloodline tonight.”
I turned to Julian. “Do you have the intravenous antidote ready for Lila?”
May you like
“Loaded and ready, Vincent,” Julian confirmed, holding up a medical case containing two pre-filled syringes of Pralidoxime.
“Good,” I said, drawing my weapon and checking the chamber. “Marco, scramble all tactical strike teams. Tell the port authority guards to shut down Falcone’s harbor warehouse. Tonight, Atlanta burns.”
