Chapter 15 - A New Dawn for the Moretti Family

One year later.

The golden afternoon sun bathed the lush gardens of the Moretti estate in warm, vibrant light. The sound of children’s laughter echoed across the manicured lawns and stone terraces.

Lila, now eight years old and possessing flawless 20/20 vision, was sprinting across the grass with a golden retriever puppy, laughing under the clear blue sky.

Chasing right behind her was eleven-year-old Leo Moretti—officially and legally adopted as my son six months ago, dressed in his private academy school uniform, smiling with all the joy and security a child deserved.

Marco stood beside me on the terrace patio, holding a folder of legitimate corporate logistics reports.

“The harbor expansions in Savannah are completely modernized, Vincent,” Marco reported with a proud grin. “All legacy syndicates have been dismantled. Our legitimate holdings grew forty percent this quarter. The city is peaceful.”

“Good,” I said, taking a sip of fresh iced tea. “Keep it that way, Marco. Our priority is family now.”

“Daddy! Leo!” Lila shouted from the lawn, waving her arms enthusiastically. “Look! The sunflowers opened up!”

Leo caught up to her, kneeling beside the tall yellow flowers, pointing out a ladybug resting on one of the petals as Lila leaned in close to inspect it with her bright, healthy eyes.

I walked down the stone steps of the terrace and joined my children on the grass. I placed one hand on Leo’s head, ruffling his hair, and scooped Lila up into my arms, lifting her high into the warm Georgia sunlight.

“Can you see everything clearly, sweetheart?” I asked, kissing her cheek.

Lila wrapped her arms around my neck, resting her head against my shoulder as she looked out over our home, our family, and the bright, endless horizon ahead.

“I can see everything, Daddy,” Lila whispered happily. “The whole wide world.”

And as I held my daughter close and watched my son laugh beside us, I knew that no shadow would ever touch the Moretti family again.
