Chapter 8 - Fall of the Corbetts

Shouts of panic echoed through the darkness.
"What's going on?" Brian yelled. "Get the lights!"
A loud thwack echoed from the left side of the room, followed by a wet grunt and the sound of a body hitting the concrete. One of Arthur’s hired guards was down.
"He’s moving!" Scott screamed, firing his gun blindly into the dark.
The muzzle flash illuminated the room for a split second, revealing Jax dropping from the rafters directly onto another guard, neutralizing him with a swift, silent blow.
I didn't need light. I had spent years training to fight in absolute darkness. I moved toward the sound of Scott's gun.
I grabbed the barrel of his pistol, twisting it upward as it fired another useless round into the ceiling. I drove my elbow into his ribs, shattering them, and then swept his legs out from under him. He hit the floor hard, coughing up blood as I stripped the gun from his grip.
"Brian!" Arthur screamed, his voice no longer arrogant, but filled with absolute terror.
A green laser sight appeared on Brian’s chest, followed immediately by another on Arthur’s.
The warehouse lights flickered back on.
Arthur and Brian were the only ones left standing. Their six hired security guards were all unconscious on the floor, and Vance and Jax were standing in the shadows, their weapons aimed directly at the remaining Corbetts.
I stood in front of Arthur, holding Scott's gun.
"You think you're untouchable, Arthur," I said, stepping closer. "But your empire is already gone."
My phone buzzed. I put it on speakerphone.
"Ethan," Marcus's voice said over the line. "The server clone is complete. We’ve sent the complete financial records of Corbett Real Estate to the Federal District Attorney and the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. They’ve already frozen all of Arthur's domestic and offshore accounts. The warrants are being signed as we speak."

Arthur’s face turned gray. "You... you can't do this."
"It’s already done," I said.
