Chapter 15 - The Golden Sunset Over The Tucson Horizon

Two years after the morning at Gate 4 of the Salt Lake City airport, Abigail stood on the wide cedar veranda of her newly completed ranch estate in the rolling desert foothills outside Tucson.
The estate had been built on the ancestral land her family had held for three generations—the very land Brandon had tried to steal and liquidate.
The evening sky was painted in brilliant, breathtaking ribbons of amber, violet, and molten gold. A gentle desert breeze carried the scent of sagebrush and sweet rain across the canyon.
Inside the sunlit kitchen, laughter echoed as Julian prepared dinner, while their golden retriever slept peacefully on the woven rug near the French doors.
Abigail held a cup of fresh tea, looking out across the vast, uninterrupted horizon.
She pulled out her phone and saw a brief news alert: Brandon Vance’s first appeal for sentence reduction had been summarily denied by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Abigail didn't feel anger. She didn't feel vengeance. She felt nothing toward Brandon at all.
He was simply a closed chapter in a book she had long since finished reading.
Julian walked out onto the veranda, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and kissing the side of her temple. “What are you thinking about, Abigail?”
Abigail leaned into his warmth, watching the sun dip gently behind the distant mountains, casting a golden glow across everything she had built, defended, and reclaimed.

“I’m thinking,” Abigail said with a soft, radiant smile, “that life finally belongs entirely to me.”
