Chapter 14 - Picking Up the Broken Pieces and Building an Empire

Over the next year, my life transformed in ways I could have never imagined.
With Derek out of the picture and his toxic influence purged, I took over the leadership of the newly restructured Montgomery Logistics & Tech Group. Utilizing my background in forensic finance, we transformed the company into a transparent, multi-million-dollar industry leader in ethical supply chain solutions.
I also founded the Lighthouse Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-powered legal defense and forensic accounting resources for women trapped in financially abusive and coercive relationships. We helped hundreds of women reclaim their independence, their assets, and their dignity.
Lena became the chief operating officer of our foundation, and together, we turned our darkest experiences into a beacon of hope for others.
One evening, while speaking at an annual gala for women entrepreneurs at the Plaza Hotel, I was introduced to Julian Mercer. Julian was an environmental engineer and philanthropist who had built a successful clean-water initiative from the ground up.
Unlike Derek, Julian was quiet, respectful, and genuinely supportive of my work. He never sought the spotlight, never made backhanded jokes at my expense, and always listened with sincere empathy.

For the first time in my life, I felt safe to love again without fear.
