Chapter 2 - Five Black SUVs and the Iron Gates of Judgment

The heavy oak doors of the Vance estate were kicked open with a thunderous crash that shattered the latch and sent wood splinters flying across the polished foyer.
Twelve men in tactical gear stepped in first, securing every exit in complete synchronization, followed by five tall figures dressed in immaculate, custom-tailored charcoal suits. The sheer aura of absolute authority radiating from them sucked all the oxygen out of the ballroom.
Leading the group was Noah Sterling. At six-foot-four with broad shoulders and cold, piercing gray eyes, he looked like a general surveying a conquered territory. Beside him stood Leo, broad-chested with a predator’s calm; Julian, carrying an ultra-thin leather briefcase with an icy, calculating glare; Marcus, typing rapidly on an encrypted tablet; and Caleb, sporting an arrogant smirk as he tapped an earpiece.
Isaac stepped forward, trying to mask his rising panic behind his usual entitled bravado. “Who the hell do you think you are? You’re trespassing on private property! Security! Call the police and get these thugs out of my house!”
None of the Vance security guards moved. In fact, the estate’s private guards had already laid their weapons on the marble floor outside, thoroughly disarmed by Noah’s advance team in under thirty seconds.
Noah completely ignored Isaac. His eyes swept across the ballroom until they landed on me. He saw the red welts across my bare shoulders, the faint cut near my collarbone, and the discarded leather riding crop lying on the floor.
A terrifying stillness settled over Noah. The temperature in the room felt as though it plummeted twenty degrees.
“Who touched her?” Noah asked. The question wasn’t loud, but it echoed with lethal finality.
Isaac swallowed hard, but Wendy Vance rushed forward, screeching in her shrill voice. “How dare you barge in here! We are the Vance family! My husband builds this city! Your filthy little sister is an ungrateful leech who ruined an expensive dress! Isaac was merely putting his wife in her place!”
Noah didn't even look at Wendy. He signaled slightly with his index finger.
Two tactical operatives stepped forward instantly, flanking Wendy and cutting off her path. Wendy froze, her face turning pale as she realized these weren't ordinary men.
Leo stepped toward Isaac. With a casual, lightning-fast motion, Leo grabbed Isaac by the throat, lifted him two inches off the marble floor, and slammed him back against the grand piano. The strings inside the instrument rang out in a discordant shriek.
“You laid a hand on Flora?” Leo whispered directly into Isaac’s trembling face.
“L-Leo! Let go of me!” Isaac choked out, clawing frantically at Leo’s iron grip. “I am her husband! Arthur! Call the mayor! Call the commissioner!”
Arthur Vance stepped forward, his face flushed red with indignation. “Let my son go this instant! You Sterlings are finished! I have contracts with the governor! I will have your entire pathetic family buried in federal prison!”
Julian Sterling stepped forward, opening his leather briefcase with deliberate slowness. He pulled out a crisp stack of legal documents and held them up.
“Arthur Vance,” Julian spoke with surgical precision. “At 8:14 PM tonight, an emergency injunction was filed in the Southern District Court. Every asset, escrow account, and operational license associated with Vance Construction Group has been frozen under suspicion of federal racketeering, money laundering, and structural safety fraud.”
Arthur laughed nervously, though sweat had begun beading on his forehead. “You’re bluffing. No judge would sign that without notice!”
“Judge Harrison signed it ten minutes ago,” Julian replied calmly, adjusting his gold cufflinks. “I wrote the warrant myself. Oh, and by the way, Arthur... I also filed for an immediate annulment on Flora’s behalf, citing extreme domestic torture and attempted homicide. Everything you own is now in receivership.”
“What?!” Wendy shrieked, clutching her chest. “That’s impossible! Isaac, do something!”

Isaac was finally dropped by Leo, collapsing onto the floor in a coughing heap. He looked up, terrified, at the five brothers who stood like a wall of retribution around me.
Marcus tapped the screen of his tablet and looked at Isaac with a cold grin. “Interesting financial portfolio you have, Isaac. Or rather... had.”
