Chapter 8 - Madison's Web of Lies Collapses

While Ryan Vance languished in his isolation cell awaiting formal sentencing, Madison Kowalski—alias Madison Blake—found that the immunity deal she had desperately bargained for was far more fragile than she imagined.
Inside the federal courthouse on Pearl Street, Madison sat beside her court-appointed attorney, her hands clasped tightly on the wooden table. Across from her sat Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Jenkins, a seasoned prosecutor known for showing zero mercy to white-collar grifters.
"Ms. Kowalski," AUSA Jenkins began, opening a fresh case file. "You provided valuable server decryption keys that allowed Whitmore Group to recover thirty-eight million dollars. That fulfills your cooperation agreement regarding the Whitmore corporate fraud."
Madison let out a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank God. So when do I get released?"
"You don't," Jenkins said coldly.
Madison froze. "What are you talking about? We signed an immunity agreement!"
"You received limited transactional immunity for the wire fraud executed against Whitmore European Logistics," Jenkins explained, sliding a new set of glossy photographs across the table. "However, during the forensic audit of your private encrypted hard drives, Marcus Reed's team discovered a separate ledger documenting an extortion scheme targeting elderly real estate investors in Palm Beach, Florida, dating back four years."
Madison’s face turned an ashen shade of gray.
"The Florida State Attorney has just unsealed a twelve-count racketeering and elder exploitation indictment against you," Jenkins continued with sharp satisfaction. "Furthermore, the DEA has flagged your financial accounts in Nevada for laundering narcotics capital through fake wellness clinics."
"No... no, this is impossible!" Madison stammered, grabbing her lawyer’s arm. "You promised me protection!"
"Your attorney will inform you," Jenkins said, closing her folder with a snap, "that transactional immunity for one specific corporate crime does not grant you a blank check for a lifetime of felony behavior. You will be extradited to Miami on Monday morning to face trial. If convicted on the racketeering counts alone, you are looking at twenty to twenty-five years in a maximum-security state facility."

Two federal marshals stepped forward, signaling for Madison to stand.
As the heavy steel handcuffs were secured around her wrists, Madison looked down at her bare arm where the fake canary diamond bracelet had once sat. The glittering illusion of high society, private jets, and stolen millions had dissolved into the grim reality of concrete walls and a lifetime behind iron bars.
