Chapter 12 - Victoria’s Eyes Finally Open

The following afternoon, Victoria Sterling visited Bellamy Blooms.
The shop had been completely restored, the shattered glass replaced with reinforced historic pane windows, and the wooden floors polished to a warm golden sheen. Fresh gardenias, white lilies, and lavender filled the air with sweet fragrance.
Victoria stood by the front counter, looking remarkably grounded. The naive heiress who had walked down the aisle of Ballroom A was gone; in her place was a woman who had survived public scandal and emerged stronger for it.
“I brought you something,” Victoria said, placing a velvet box on the counter.
I opened it. Inside were the antique pearl drop earrings that Graham had claimed were his family heirlooms, which he had gifted me on our engagement.
“They belonged to my grandmother,” Victoria said softly. “Graham stole them from our family estate six months before he even proposed to me. He used them to win your trust.”
“I’m sorry, Victoria,” I said honestly. “You deserved none of this.”
“Neither did you,” Victoria replied, offering a warm, genuine smile. “My brother has spent his entire life protecting our family from predators. He’s tough, he’s stubborn, and he rarely lets anyone into his heart.”
She looked around the blooming shop, then back at me.

“I’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at you, June. You didn't just expose Graham; you brought my brother back to life.”
Victoria reached out, squeezed my hand with genuine affection, and made a substantial purchase of orchids for the Sterling Foundation headquarters before departing with her head held high.
