Chapter 15 - The Boss's Forever Empress (The End)

One year later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the sapphire waters of Lake Como, Italy.
The private terrace of the historic Romano-Volkov villa overlooked the lush green mountains and the sparkling expanse of the lake below. A gentle breeze carried the scent of blooming jasmine, lemon trees, and vintage wine.
Elena leaned against the marble balustrade, dressed in an elegant white linen sundress that fluttered in the warm wind. Her hair was loose, tumbling over her shoulders in rich waves. She held a glass of chilled Prosecco, looking completely at peace—a far cry from the shadowy war zones of Chicago and Moscow.
Soft footsteps sounded on the stone terrace behind her.
Strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a broad, muscular chest. Vincent kissed the side of her neck, his five-o'clock shadow tickling her skin, making her laugh softly.
"You're thinking about the logistics again, aren't you?" Vincent murmured into her ear.
"Never," Elena smiled, turning in his arms to wrap her hands around his neck. "I was actually thinking about how much I miss your terrible office coffee."
"Liar," Vincent chuckled, his ice-blue eyes filled with unconditional warmth and deep, unwavering love. "You hated that coffee. You secretly swapped my beans for a two-hundred-dollar Italian roast within three weeks of working for me."
"Because you were unbearable when you were under-caffeinated, Mr. Romano."
"And you were a masterclass in aggressive mundanity, Miss Wright."
Vincent reached into his linen trousers and pulled out a small, black velvet box.
Elena’s breath caught in her throat. Her hazel eyes widened as Vincent slowly sank onto one knee on the sun-drenched marble terrace.
"For two years, you were the ghost who protected my empire," Vincent said, his voice thick with deep, powerful emotion. "And for the last year, you’ve been the partner who conquered the world by my side. I don't want an empire without you, Elena. I don't want a future that doesn't have you standing right next to me."
He opened the box, revealing a flawless, custom-cut six-carat emerald diamond ring surrounded by a halo of platinum stars.
"Elena Volkova... will you marry me and rule this life forever as my Empress?"
Tears of pure joy welled in Elena’s eyes—the first tears she had allowed herself in six long years. She didn't hesitate for a single heartbeat.
"Yes," she whispered, a radiant, breathtaking smile breaking across her face. "A thousand times, yes."
Vincent stood, slid the glowing emerald ring onto her finger, and pulled her into a passionate, breathtaking kiss as the bells of the distant Italian cathedral rang out across the sunlit valley.
The clumsy, stammering secretary in the mustard-yellow cardigan was gone forever.
