Chapter 13 - The Final Trap at the Coastal Cliffs

Three days later, the morning sun rose over Lake Michigan, painting the calm, blue water in brilliant shades of gold and amber. The storm had completely cleared, leaving behind a crisp, fresh autumn breeze that signaled the beginning of a new chapter.
In the grand boardroom on the fiftieth floor of the Bennett Maritime Tower in downtown Chicago, the entire board of directors, international shareholders, and dozens of media reporters sat in stunned silence.
The double mahogany doors swung open.
Arthur walked into the boardroom on his own two feet, wearing an immaculate bespoke navy suit, radiating pure power, confidence, and authority. Walking beside him was Commissioner Vance and the state’s lead prosecuting attorney.
Arthur stepped up to the head of the massive boardroom table, resting his hands on the polished wood.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur’s deep voice commanded the room, silencing every whisper. "As you are all aware, Richard and Victoria Bennett are currently in federal custody facing over thirty felony counts of fraud, attempted murder, and corporate treason."
He signaled to the large digital presentation screen behind him, which lit up with verified legal documents bearing the state supreme court seal.
"Today is my fortieth birthday," Arthur continued, his eyes scanning the room of executives who had once doubted him. "Under the original, uncorrupted testament of my grandfather, full executive authority, ninety percent of voting shares, and the entirety of the Bennett-Vance conglomerate revert to me with immediate effect."
The board members, recognizing the overwhelming legal and financial victory, immediately stood to their feet, erupting into a roaring round of applause.
Arthur raised a single hand, bringing the room back to respectful silence.
"Furthermore," Arthur announced, turning his gaze toward the back of the boardroom where I stood with Brandon and Emma, dressed in beautiful, warm new clothes, "I am establishing the Clara Miller Foundation—an independent twenty-million-dollar fund dedicated to providing immediate housing, medical care, and legal protection for single mothers and underprivileged children across this city."
The reporters' cameras flashed furiously, capturing the moment the broken billionaire officially reclaimed his empire and turned it into an instrument of hope.

Arthur looked directly into my eyes across the crowded room, his lips curving into the warm, genuine smile of the boy who had promised me forever twenty years ago.
The battle for his legacy was won.
