Chapter 13 - The Showdown in the Docks: Blood, Vengeance, and True Salvation

The warehouse fell into a tense, terrifying silence as Dominic stalked between the towering rows of shipping containers. The only sounds were the crackle of burning debris and the distant sirens of approaching city emergency services kept miles away by Rossi-controlled police dispatchers.
"You're finished, Victor!" Dominic’s voice echoed off the metal walls, cold and inescapable. "Come out and die like a man."
Suddenly, Victor Costa lunged from behind a cargo crate, firing his silver revolver wildly.
One bullet grazed Dominic’s tactical vest; another sparked off the concrete. Dominic didn't flinch. He closed the distance in two explosive strides, kicking the revolver out of Costa’s hand. The gun went skittering across the concrete and plunged into the dark waters of the shipping canal below.
Costa pulled a hidden combat blade, slashing desperately at Dominic’s chest.
Dominic blocked the strike with his left forearm, disarming Costa with a brutal wrist-lock that shattered the older man's radius bone with an audible crack. Costa screamed in agony, collapsing to his knees.
Dominic grabbed Costa by the hair, hauling him up and slamming his face repeatedly into the corrugated steel container until Costa was covered in blood, barely conscious.
"Thirty years," Dominic snarled into Costa’s ear, his voice dripping with pure vengeance. "Thirty years you hunted Marcus Vance. You tried to murder my mother. You put seven bullets into the woman I love. And for what? For numbers on a screen?"
"Kill me..." Costa choked out, spitting teeth and blood onto the floor. "Kill me, you bastard... you'll never have peace... someone else will rise..."
"No, Victor," Dominic whispered, leaning close, his eyes pitch black. "Nobody rises after I finish with them. Your syndicate is dead. Your lieutenants are dead. And your name ends tonight."
With ruthless, unhesitating finality, Dominic drove his combat blade straight through Victor Costa’s heart.
Costa gasped, his eyes widening in absolute shock, before the light in them faded completely. Dominic released his grip, letting the lifeless body of the man who had terrorized our lives collapse into the dark, oily waters of the East River canal.
The war was over.
Dominic stood over the water for a long moment, chest heaving, the rain washing the soot and blood from his face.
When he turned back toward the entrance of the warehouse, I was standing there, having refused to wait in the car. I walked through the smoke, stepping over the broken glass and spent shell casings, until I stood directly in front of him.
Dominic dropped the blade. His hands, covered in scars and gunpowder, reached out and gently cupped my face.

"It's over, Maya," he whispered, his voice breaking as he pulled me into his arms, burying his face in my neck. "You're safe. You're finally safe."
I wrapped my arms around him, holding on to the man who had torn through an army to bring me home, knowing that our darkness had finally been conquered by a love stronger than death itself.
