Chapter 14 - The Public ExecutionIn the production booth overlooking the ballroom, Chloe plugged a flash drive into the main AV console. Instantly, the massive eighty-foot digital projection screens surrounding the gala violently shifted.

They didn't display the gala’s sponsor logos. They illuminated with undeniable, damning evidence.

It was a digital masterpiece of public execution. The screens displayed the wire transfer receipts, the IP logs tying the black-market VIA clone network directly to Arthur’s personal servers, and the internal emails where he explicitly paid bribes to forge the workplace rules for my representative office. Finally, it displayed the direct financial link between Arthur and my abusive ex-husband, Daniel.

The entire gala erupted into shocked gasps and furious whispers. The billionaires who had been toasting Arthur moments ago physically stepped away from him, looking at him with absolute disgust.

"You are a corporate terrorist, Arthur," I said, my voice echoing clearly through the silent, captivated room. "You used fake compliance laws and illegal bot farms to try and steal my empire. But you forgot one fundamental rule of business."

Arthur glared at me, his chest heaving, his face drained of all color. "What?"

"The strongest foundation always wins," I whispered.

"FBI! Nobody move!"

The command thundered through the grand ballroom. From the stairwells and the main entrances, dozens of heavily armed federal agents swarmed the room. Laser sights danced across Arthur’s chest and his security team’s heads.

Arthur stood frozen, the crystal champagne glass slipping from his hand and shattering on the marble floor. He looked at the swarm of agents, and then he looked at me. The absolute, soul-crushing realization that a woman he considered completely beneath him had entirely dismantled his syndicate finally broke him.

Agents tackled him, violently forcing his arms behind his back to snap heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists. He didn't fight. He was a hollow, empty shell of a man.

As they dragged Arthur away, reading him his rights for international wire fraud, racketeering, and cyber-sabotage, Mark walked up beside me. He wrapped a strong, comforting arm around my waist, pulling me tight against his solid chest.

"The federal authorities just notified Meta’s legal team," Mark murmured in my ear, his deep voice sending a grounding warmth through my soul. "Your Business Manager accounts have been fully restored. The permanent lock is gone. The international investors just wired the funding for APT Vietnam."

I leaned back into his embrace, taking a deep, unburdened breath. Arthur Vance had tried to convince the world that I was a fraud. He had built a digital guillotine to cut off my head, and he had tripped the blade on his own neck.

"He thought he was playing a game of checkers," I smiled, turning in Mark's arms to look up into his dark, loving eyes.

Mark chuckled, a rich, deep sound that made my heart flutter. He reached up, gently brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. "He didn't realize the Queen was playing chess. Let's go home, Claire."
