Chapter 12 - The Emergency Boardroom Ambush: Exposing Uncle Richard in Front of the Entire Dynasty

Richard Stanford slammed his cane against the table, his face flushed purple with rage.
“You ungrateful whelp!” Richard snarled at Corbin. “I built this empire with your father! I did what was necessary to keep the stock price soaring! Do you think anyone cares about a few millimeters of foundation steel when the quarterly dividends hit twenty percent? You are a Stanford! Your loyalty belongs to this family, not to some bastard's widow!”
Corbin walked down the length of the table until he was standing inches from his uncle.
“Samuel was my brother,” Corbin said with deadly calm. “He was my father’s son. And unlike you, he actually understood what honor meant. You are not a builder, Richard. You are a thief who compromised human lives for greed.”
Corbin pressed a button on his intercom.
The boardroom doors opened again.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Gallagher stepped into the room, accompanied by six armed Federal Marshals and two Rhode Island State Police detectives.
Gallagher held up a stack of federal arrest warrants signed by the Chief District Judge.
“Richard Stanford. Arthur Vance,” Gallagher announced formally. “You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy to commit corporate grand larceny, falsification of structural safety certifications under the Federal Building Integrity Act, and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder in the death of Samuel Julian Prescott.”
Vance sank back into his leather chair, staring blankly at the polished table.
The federal marshals moved in swiftly. Within seconds, Richard’s gold-handled cane was confiscated, and heavy steel handcuffs were clicked around the wrists of both men.
As Richard was led past Lianna, he glared at baby Austin with bitter venom. But the child did not cry; Austin looked at the disgraced old man with the calm, untroubled innocence of the future that had just been won for him.

“Corbin!” Richard screamed as he was dragged into the hallway toward the express elevator. “You will destroy this company! The stock will collapse!”
“The stock will survive, Richard,” Corbin said coldly as the elevator doors closed. “Because starting today, Stanford Development will be built on the truth.”
